In this third year studio, my partner and I redesigned a boathouse for Columbia University's boathouse in Inwood NY for their varsity rowing teams. Our goal was to integrate a program for the surrounding community while meeting all the needs of the athletes. The angles of the shed and the curves of the walls were designed in consideration of the necessary rotation needed to safely carry the 64' kayaks in and out. Window walls where essential due to the early practice time and the river view of the site. Planting and vines are used as natural solar shading in the summer seasons.
