In this first-year studio, the objective was to choose a volume and action to then design an interactive courtyard in front of the East Building on Pratt Institutes campus. I chose a wedge with a flat top as my volume and surfaces that fold in on themselves as my method of connecting. My action was playing with a ball, and the wedge shape provided the opportunity to rethink how we interact with a ball. The shape not only created the different levels but surfaces and angles to bounce or slide the ball off of.
