In this second year studio, I designed a library in China Town on a corner lot. After studying the site I wanted to create a building that both drawn in light and adds to the colorful aesthetic of the neighboring streets. The library takes on a new experience contrasting natural light and light filtered through iridescent glass. the folding facade creates different hues of light throughout the day, every visit will provide a new experience. The bookshelves guide the light and dictate which areas receive natural or iridescent light, creating a balance between playful and calm.
